    Adarsh Champawat Mission

    Uttarakhand@25 Adarsh Champawat Vision

    To transform Uttarakhand into a leading and exemplary state in India, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami has launched the “Uttarakhand@25 Adarsh Champawat” vision through the Manthan Chintan Shivir. As part of this vision, Champawat district has been selected to be developed as a model district based on its geographical landscape and potential. For this purpose, the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST), Dehradun, has been designated as the nodal agency. Under the leadership of UCOST, efforts are being made to integrate state departments, central institutions, self-help groups (SHGs), and NGOs to strengthen rural livelihoods and promote science and technology-based innovations.

    Initiatives in Champawat

    The following initiatives have been undertaken in Champawat under this initiative for Entrepreneurship Development, Livelihood Generation, and Science popularization related interventions:

    1. Formation of a women’s technology park to empower local women entrepreneurs at Kharak Karki, Champawat.
    2. Technology Showcase for the farmers and women entrepreneurs in collaboration with PSA office, GoI.
    3. Traditional Aipan Art and handicraft training through entrepreneurship development programs.
    4. Promotion and cultivation of Medicinal Mushrooms in the area.
    5. Establishment of a processing unit to produce Briquettes from Pine Needles (Pirul) in Bhingrana, Champawat.
    6. Establishment of an Aroma Park under the Aroma Mission in the district, for cultivation and processing of medicinal and aromatic plants.
    7. Development of a GIS-based dashboard for planning and monitoring activities in Champawat.
    8. Establishment of a STEM Lab.
    9. Setting up of a Livelihood-on-Wheels initiative.
    10. Organization of training programs for value addition and food processing.
    11. Establishment of Technology Resource Centre at Sipty, Champawat.
    12. Creation of a Science Centre at Chauki village in Champawat.

    Progress Review

    From time to time, the Hon’ble Chief Minister personally reviews the progress of the Champawat Model District Initiative. On June 13, 2024, a detailed review meeting was held under his chairmanship at the State Secretariat to assess the ongoing and proposed activities. On this occasion, he emphasized that efforts must be result-oriented and visible on the ground. He directed senior officers to conduct regular meetings with district-level officials and encouraged the incorporation of feedback from local stakeholders to ensure the success of the initiatives.
