4th Women Scientist Conclave-2024 at USERC

The Uttarakhand Science Education and Research Center (USERC) organized the 4th Women Scientist Conclave-2024 on December 19, 2024, at the IRDT auditorium in Dehradun. The event, led by USERC Director Prof. (Dr.) Anita Rawat, emphasized the importance of women’s participation in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. USERC is actively promoting science education and innovation, particularly for women, through various programs and awards, including the “Young Women Scientist Excellence” and “Young Women Scientist Achievement Awards.”

The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Gurmeet Singh, praised USERC’s efforts in advancing science education, research, and innovation. He recognized the outstanding contributions of women in various sectors and highlighted the state’s growing role in science and technology. During the conclave, 13 young women scientists were honored with awards, and three students—Ms. Shreya Rautla (PM Shri GGIC, Jwalapur Haridwar), Ms. Niharika Negi (Janta Inter College, Sanglakoti, Pauri Garhwal), and Ms. Drishti Chauhan (GIC Madan Negi, Tehri Garhwal)—were recognized for their innovative work with the ‘विज्ञान चेतना छात्रा सम्मान’.

The event also featured the release of the book Shifting Ecosystems: Plant Diversity and Habitat Changes in the Himalayas, published by USERC. Distinguished guests, including Vice Chancellors from various universities, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the significance of technology and research in modern science.
