Seven-Day Faculty Development Program on ‘Multi-Disciplinary Education & Research with Emphasis on Indian Knowledge System’ organized by USERC
The “Multi-Disciplinary Education & Research with Emphasis on Indian Knowledge System” seven-day Faculty Development Program, organized by the Uttarakhand Science Education and Research Centre (USERC), was inaugurated on January 21, 2025, in collaboration with Motherhood University, Roorkee.
The Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) J.M.S. Rana, former Chairman of the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission, delivered the keynote lecture on “Indian Knowledge System-based Education & Research.” Prof. Rana emphasized the importance of Indian knowledge-based education in the current context. He stated that to make India a developed nation, special attention must be given to the Indian education system. In the pursuit of making India the global leader, we must return to our traditional Indian educational system. Our Indian philosophy is rooted in education, and the progress of society is also based on education. He noted that education is not limited to the curriculum; rather, it is the continuous nurturing of inner curiosity. Education is not just a theory but an ever-evolving process that adapts to the times, and creativity arises from it. He also mentioned that programs like this should be organized regularly so that teachers stay updated with new teaching techniques. He added that Faculty Development Programs are extremely beneficial for the holistic development of teachers.
The distinguished guest, Prof. (Dr.) Anita Rawat, in her address, mentioned that USERC organizes several scientific activities for both students and teachers. She pointed out that through the Faculty Development Program, teachers are being enlightened by experts on various new scientific methodologies and knowledge. She also mentioned that exposure visits for teachers are being organized. Prof. Rawat informed the participants about the new education policy, skill development, paper publication, patents, and more.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Narendra Sharma, presided over the program. The event saw prominent participants from various universities across the country, including Delhi University, Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar, IIT Roorkee, DAV College Dehradun, and Pantnagar University.
