Two-day workshop on the topic “Identification of Microorganisms through PCR and Bioinformatics”

A two-day workshop on the topic “Identification of Microorganisms through PCR and Bioinformatics” was inaugurated on 14th February 2025 by Uttarakhand Science Education and Research Center (USERC), in collaboration with the Combined Institute of Medical Science and Research (CIMSR), Kuanwala.

While addressing the program, the Chief Guest, Director of USERC, Prof. (Dr.) Anita Rawat, provided detailed information on PCR and bioinformatics and shared insights about the work being done by USERC in the fields of science, technology, innovation, and skill development.

The Chairman of CIMSR & UIHMT Group of Colleges, Advocate Lalit Mohan Joshi, welcomed all the guests at the event.

In the workshop, Dr. Anchal Rana, Senior Scientist at FRI Dehradun, delivered an in-depth lecture on DNA isolation, microorganisms, and gel electrophoresis techniques. Dr. Nabeel Ahmed, Dean of Research at Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University, Dehradun, presented on bioinformatics and introduced students to various software, such as FESTA.

Dr. Neerja Singh provided hands-on training to students on bioinformatics, while Junior Scientist Ritik Dogra trained students in DNA extraction and PCR techniques.

The event was attended by Sanjay Joshi, Managing Director of CIMSR & UIHMT Group of Colleges, Major Lalit Samant (Retd.), Director of Uttarakhand Defense Academy, Dehradun, Dr. Deepika Vishwas, Dr. Ranjit Kumar, Dr. Prerna Badoni, Pankaj Sajwan, Chandrika Bhatt, Shivani Lodhi, Sadhna, as well as 30 students from institutions such as JECRC Jaipur, Gurukul Kangri Haridwar, KIIT Bhubaneswar, SBSPGI, SGRR University, Uttaranchal University, Devbhoomi University Uttarakhand, and CIMSR & R Dehradun.
