    A delegation of 40 Cambodian officials visited Regional Science Centre, Dehradun on 17th Feb, 2025

    A delegation of 40 Cambodian officials, engaged in public policy and governance training visited the Zonal Science Centre, Memorial on 17 February 2025. The delegation, currently undergoing a special training programme on Public Policy and Governance at the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) in Mussoorie, comprised of key Cambodian portfolios such as Ministry of Civil Services, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, Ministry of Friendship of the Elderly and Youth, Office of the Council of Ministers, etc. During their visit to the Zonal Science Centre, the Cambodian officials viewed the Himalayan Gallery, Technology Gallery, e-Library and 3D movie shows depicting the themes of the Memorial. A special interactive programme was organised on the occasion, which included scholarly discussions and presentations by experts in science, technology and governance.

    Dr. D.P. Uniyal, Joint Director, UCOST welcomed all the dignitaries and gave an overview of the Department of Science and Technology and the Council. This was followed by a keynote address by Dr. B.S. Dr. Bisht, Director, National Centre for Good Governance, Government of India, organised the events held in the educational institutions. Prof. Durgesh Pant of UCOST, in his discussion topic, discussed on various partners, consortia and new initiatives and programmes of the Council on the topic ‘Science and Technology Dialogue’. Eminent dignitaries from Cambodia, State Secretary Her Excellency Mrs. Man Chinda and Her Excellency Mr. Sok Seng Yan, Vice President, Royal School of Administration, were present in the event. They thanked UCOST for the event. Dr. G.S.C. Rawat, Former Director, Indian Institute of Petroleum (WOI), briefed the scientists on the topic “Sustaining Himalayan System under Changing Climate”. He said that there is a need for the people of the mountain region and their related specific seafood. Dr. Kapil Joshi, Former PCF and Emeritus Scientist, UCOST, Consortium worked on the role of forest-based entrepreneurship development in economic and environmental conservation. Dr. Reema Pant, Professor, Department of Innovation and Environment, Graphic Era University, shared her thoughts on the first She for Nana, an initiative to promote women’s participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). This exposure will trigger meaningful exchanges between Indian and Cambodian officials and promote collaboration in science and technology.
