Department of Information Technology, Good Governance and Science Technology
The Department of Information Technology, Good Governance and Science Technology is responsible for accelerating public service delivery through leveraging emerging technologies in the field of IT and Science Technology. The focus areas include transparency and accountability in governance and generating scientific temperament among the youths of the State.
The department has undertaken key initiatives that foster digital governance, innovation, keeping the cyber hygiene in mind to build a robust digital system within the state. The main objective is to create an ecosystem that ensures last mile delivery of services in a time bound manner which are accessible Anywhere, Anytime!
The Department plays a key role in executing several significant programs, initiatives, and reforms for the Government of Uttarakhand by leveraging technology-based services. It also focuses on enhancing capabilities in people, processes, and technologies to drive scientific and technological progress.
Our goal is to bring the department in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.’
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure On-time delivery of services to citizens.
- Enhance Government to Government (G2G) and Government to Citizen (G2C) interactions enabled by technology interventions.
- Drive Innovation by identifying and using various industry platforms, frameworks and best practices.
- Formulate and implement policies related to Information Technology and IT enabled services.
- Implementation of R&D Framework – Enabling creation of Innovation/R&D Infrastructure.
- Achieving the vision of Digital Uttarakhand by implementing efficient, service-oriented, and cost-effective information networks.
- Promoting the use of space technology, remote sensing, and Geographic Information System (GIS) applications in the state.
- E-Security to secure the State’s ICT Infrastructure.
- E-Learning and Capacity building:
- Focusing on integrating modern technology into science education to make learning more interactive and effective.
- Improving scientific infrastructure and promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education.
