Uttarakhand Science Education & Research Centre (USERC)

Established in 2005, the Uttarakhand Science Education & Research Centre (USERC) is an autonomous institution under the department, dedicated to advancing science education and research. It collaborates with national and international organizations to promote scientific growth and innovation.

The primary objectives of USERC include building infrastructure to strengthen science education and supporting scientific development through research and development (R&D) projects. The center is committed to nurturing scientific learning, enhancing skill development, and fostering innovation within the state.

Key Functions of USERC

Technology Enabled Science Education

USERC focuses on integrating modern technology into science education to make learning more interactive and effective.

• Experiential Learning Program (Hands-on Training): Conducts practical training sessions, allowing students and researchers to gain hands-on experience in various scientific fields.
• E-content Development: Develops high-quality digital learning resources, including online courses, video lectures, and interactive content to support science education.
• Digital Learning Platform: Creates virtual classrooms and online platforms to provide remote access to scientific knowledge, ensuring inclusivity in education.

Strengthening of Labs

To improve scientific infrastructure and promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, USERC focuses on:

• Establishment of STEM Labs: Sets up state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with modern tools and instruments for practical scientific research and experiments.
• Training of Trainers (ToT) & Student Training: Provides specialized training for teachers and students to improve technical skills and scientific understanding.
• Establishment of Entrepreneurship Development Centers (EDC): Encourages innovation and entrepreneurship by providing resources, training, and mentorship to young scientists and entrepreneurs.

Research & Development

Environment & Conservation

USERC actively promotes environmental awareness and conservation through the following initiatives:

• Establishment of Vigyan Chetna Kendras: Establishes science, environmental, and awareness centers to promote sustainability and conservation aligned with traditional knowledge.
• Water Science & Technology Program: Executes projects related to water conservation, purification, and sustainable management of water resources.
• Harela Celebration, Plantation & Awareness Program: Organizes tree plantation drives and environmental campaigns to foster community involvement.
• Scientific & Environmental Activities: Conducts workshops and field studies to promote biodiversity conservation and ecological sustainability.

Societal Outreach
