    Program Organized by USERC on International Women’s Day

    On March 10, 2025, the Uttarakhand Science Education and Research Centre (USERC) organized a scientific program and panel discussion at the auditorium of the Anthropological Survey of India (ANSI), Kaulagarh Road, Dehradun, on the theme “Accelerate Action: A Firm Step towards Viksit Bharat” to celebrate International Women’s Day.

    In her address, USERC Director Prof. (Dr.) Anita Rawat emphasized that to achieve the vision of a developed India, it is crucial to ensure the active participation of women. Strengthening women’s education, enhancing their skills, and boosting their confidence are key steps toward this goal. She stressed the need to bridge the gap in educational levels, create more opportunities for women in employment and entrepreneurship, and promote digital empowerment.

    The chief guest, Mrs. Kusum Kandwal, Chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Women, highlighted the importance of women’s upliftment, their participation in every sector of society, and their growing role in nation-building. She elaborated on various programs run by the commission and provided insights into the ground-level challenges faced by women and young girls, along with solutions.

    A panel discussion was held during the technical session.

    Prof. Varsha Parcha, Dean of Research at Dolphin Institute, Dehradun, discussed the role of women in science, technology, and research. She suggested that women should select research topics that align with societal needs and foster a sense of dedication toward advancing research.

    Dr. Savita Rawat, Professor and Head of the Department of Education, D.A.V. P.G. College, Dehradun, stressed the importance of equal access to resources for both men and women. She emphasized the need for quality education and leadership development for the holistic growth of women.

    Dr. Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri, Associate Professor at Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, provided detailed information on various policies, laws, rights, and solutions related to women’s issues.
    Dr. Om Prakash Nautiyal, a USERC scientist, remarked that society as a whole is indebted to women. He acknowledged that women are now playing leading roles in science and technology and urged for greater efforts to ensure gender equality and promote women to even more prominent roles.

    The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Manju Sundriyal, who also presented the session’s recommendations. Dr. Om Prakash Nautiyal concluded the event with a vote of thanks. Over 100 participants actively engaged in the program.
