    ‘Uttar Pradesh Science and Technology Initiative’ program was launched under the joint aegis of Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology (UCOST) and Vigyanshala International. On this occasion, the Honorable Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh inaugurated the program.

    In the inaugural address of the program, the Honorable Governor underlined the importance of ‘Uttar Pradesh Science and Technology Initiative’ and called it a big encouragement for women. He said that through this initiative, the participation of women in the field of science and technology will be promoted, which will not only increase their career opportunities but will also bring positive change in the society.

    The Governor emphasized that in the modern era, it is important to give daughters an opportunity to showcase their skills in science and technology. This will not only recognize their individual capabilities, but the society will also benefit from their possibilities in science and technology. He also mentioned that the increasing participation of women will help in the development of the country and strengthen its global position. The Governor expressed confidence that programs like ‘Earth quake resistant structure’ will give a new direction to Uttarakhand and will strengthen the country and the state towards becoming Vishwa Guru.

    During this, women scientists were honored by the Honorable Governor for doing excellent work in the field of STEM. The women scientists honored included Dr. Binita Fartyal of Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, Lucknow, Nidhi Pant of Forbes Asia, educationist Dr. Reema Pant, Dr. Manisha Thakurti from IIT Delhi, and Dr. Jayshree Sanwal of Jawaharlal Nehru Advanced Scientific Research Center, Bangalore.

    On this occasion, the Honorable Governor inaugurated the digital space of UCOST. Under this digital space, digital library, STEM lab and lab on wheels schemes will be operated.

    UCOST Director General Prof. Durgesh Pant, the coordinator of this program, said that this program has been started to encourage women in the field of science and technology.

    In the last phase of the inaugural session, Dr. Vijay Venugopal, Co-convener, Vigyanshala International thanked all the special guests and all the scientists and researchers present. Dr. Vinita Fartyal, CEO of Vigyanshala International Dr. Darshana Joshi, and all the scientists and employees of UCOST and all the students were present in the program.
