    Champawat, 25th March 2025: To mark the completion of three years of successful governance, “Aromatic Plant Distribution Program” was organized at Women Technology Center, Champawat under Uttarakhand @25 Aadarsh ​​Champawat. The program was organized by Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology (UCOST), Dehradun, in collaboration with CSIR-CIMAP, Lucknow. During the program, Dr. Manish Arya and Dr. Praval P.S. Verma, both Technical Officers, CSIR-CIMAP, informed the women about the cultivation and commercial use of aromatic, medicinal and ayurvedic plants. They shared detailed information about the cultivation, nutrition and long-term care of crops like rosemary, lemon grass, rose and oregano.

    The experts informed that these plants can survive for 10 to 12 years, allowing farmers to earn profits for a long time. They also educated the women about the commercial use of these crops, their market value and their role in job creation. This program was not only an effort to connect women with modern methods of farming, but was also an important step to empower them and motivate them towards entrepreneurship.

    During this, Rosemary plants were also distributed, where experts informed the women about the scientific methods of planting and growing them, so that they can make maximum use of their land and become economically self-reliant. In the program, Director General of Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology (UCOST) Prof. Durgesh Pant also interacted with the women. He emphasized how important it is for rural women to be equipped with such knowledge, so that they can not only improve their livelihood but also move forward on the new path of entrepreneurship.

    Apart from this, further training programs will be organized to train women in intensive cultivation and commercial production of these crops, so that they can directly connect with their livelihood and become self-reliant. Block Pramukh Rekha Devi of Champawat and Gram Pradhan Chorasethi Mrs. Anita Sethi were also present in the program. She thanked the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami for this initiative and said that under his leadership, many empowerment schemes for women have been successfully run in Champawat in the last three years.
    This program promoted a new outlook and awareness among women about agriculture, scientific cultivation of medicinal plants and entrepreneurship, so that they can move towards becoming self-reliant.
