Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USAC) – Project Overview
The Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USAC) is executing a project titled “Mapping and Monitoring of Surface Water Bodies using Satellite and Ground-based Methods” which has been conceptualized and funded by the State Government. This project aims to generate accurate data about surface water including its presence, spatial extent, and temporal changes, to enhance water resource management in Uttarakhand.
Key Objectives
- Mapping and monitoring of surface water bodies using both satellite and ground-based methods at a 1:10 K.
- Mapping and monitoring of snow cover and major glaciers of Alaknanda, Bhagirathi, and Yamuna River basins.
- Conducting temporal change analysis at three-year intervals.
