TRAVEL GRANT SUPPORT
The Council offers financial assistance for travel expenses to support participation in National and International conferences, seminars, symposiums, and workshops. However, the scheme does not cover expenses related to maintenance, registration fees, airport taxes, taxi fares, or other costs. For International travel, only 50% of the airfare (up to ₹25,000) will be covered by the department. In exceptional cases, some relaxation may be considered.
Eligibility Criteria:-
- Scientists working in educational/academic institutions and research laboratories in Uttarakhand are eligible for travel support on a selective basis.
- The applicant must have:
- An accepted research paper for presentation, OR
- An invitation to chair a session, OR
- An invitation as a keynote speaker.
- Young scientists (below 40 years of age) are eligible to apply for training programs, short-term courses, or schools.
- The applicant must not have availed financial assistance from U-COST in the last three years.
- The conference/training must be of an international nature (applications for annual meetings of professional societies will not be considered).
- Applications must be submitted through the proper channel and must reach U-COST at least 8 weeks before the conference date.
- Canvassing will lead to disqualification from the travel grant.
- Important Note:
- Air travel must be booked through a National Carrier (Air India/Indian Airlines).
- Even if Air India/Indian Airlines does not operate on a specific route, the passage must still be booked through them.
